The Department of Anesthesiology would like to congratulate Dr. Alex Proekt for receiving the Mentored Research Training Grant - Basic Science (MRTG-BS) which is a two-year grant awarded for Basic Science Research. Good luck to Dr. Proekt on his continued success in the department.

The department is pleased to welcome Alessio Accardi, PhD, Assistant Professor of Physiology & Biophysics in Anesthesiology and Assistant Professor of Biochemistry & Structural Biology.
The Department of Anesthesiology announces the launch of a completely renovated Research website, which provides a source of general information regarding research, practice and policies.
Anesthesiology Department Researchers Awarded Recovery Act Funding
Drs. Hugh C. Hemmings, Jr. and Crina Nimigean have each been granted supplemental awards for the research they are conducting in our department. Dr. Hemmings was awarded supplemental funds for two of his active grants. His award money will go toward his research focused on cell signaling mechanisms in global cerebral ischemia and the synaptic mechanisms of general anesthetics. Dr. Nimigean's supplemental funds will go toward elucidation of ion channel structure and function. The Anesthesiology Department would like to congratulate Dr. Hemmings and Dr. Nimigean and wish them continued success in their research!
Cysteine reversal of the novel neuromuscular blocking drug CW002 in dogs. Hiroshi Sunaga, Jaideep K. Malhotra, Edward Yoon, John J. Savarese and Paul M. Heerdt.
-L-cysteine reversal is fully effective even at only one minute following administration of 9 times ED95 of CW002 in dogs, with minimal hemodynamic effect and no apparent organ toxicity.
